Après avoir suivi les ateliers de dessin, de peinture, de photographie et de sculpture aux beaux-Arts, Nicolas Maray choisit, dans un premier temps, la photographie comme étant le moyen le plus évident pour traduire son regard, la plus naturelle expression de ses émotions, fixées dans le temps.

Mais le format photographique le restreint dans la limite d’un cadre trop réducteur, à ses yeux. La peinture devient alors une nécessité qui lui offre un espace plus large et mieux adapté à la réalisation d’une œuvre qui trouve sa pleine dimension et qu’il transmet avec ampleur où le temps et le travail de l’homme se mêlent et transparaissent comme le miroir de nos propres vies.

After Having followed the workshops of drawing, painting, photography and sculpture at the Beaux-Arts, Nicolas Maray initially chose photography as the most natural expression of his emotions frozen in time, but he came to feel that the photographic medium was restrincting him whithin its narrow scope. Painting them became a necessity, offering him a wider space, better adapted to the creation of work finding its full dimension and allowing him to communicate the breadth of his vision, where time and the work of man merge and shine through like miror of our own lives.
